The three historical Cultural Centers and the new Lebsian, Gay, Bisexual and Trangender Resource Center are units of the Office of Student Life and provide a welcoming and permanent setting where students from various cultures can be nurtured and enhanced on the the University of Iowa campus.
The Centers have become a focal point of cultural enrichment and diversity, academic development, and personal growth. They also create an atmosphere that allows students, faculty, and staff to interact with the Iowa City community in order to establish cultural ties and exchange knowledge.
The major purpose of the Centers is to meet the needs of students through a variety of programs and services. In conjunction with the Office of Student Life, they offer students a wide array of diverse cultural, academic, and personal support services to facilitate their growth, success, and adjustment to the University.

There are a variety of cultural celebrations and programs sponsored by the centers. Staff also develops and implements new programs in response to student interests. Students also have an opportunity to develop leadership skills through participation with program planning and evaluation committees.
