Diversity Resources
MY IOWA is an engaging FREE overnight weekend retreat for UI students designed to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and leadership on The University of Iowa campus. UI staff, peer facilitators, and members of the group will create an environment that provides:
- A Leadership Development Opportunity
- A venue to have a voice
- An opportunity to identify the strengths you bring to UI
- Skills that will enhance your ability to make a difference at UI
- The chance to network with key University Officials
- A place to share the challenges and opportunities you see at UI
- A bridge of understanding between multicultural and international students
- Freedom to express yourself away from campus
- A resume Builder: Enrollment in the Student Practicing Inclusion Portfolio initiative
- FREE Fun, Food and Friends
- Create a better understanding of leadership.
The Office of Student Life, the Center for Diversity and Enrichment, the Office for International Students and Scholars, the Counseling Center and the University of Iowa Student Government offers UI students the opportunity to participate in this 24-hour retreat held at Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca in Solon, Iowa. The summit will include discussions with University Administrators, “community conversations,” leadership workshops, University resources, and time to network with other student leaders.
Registration, transportation, accommodations, and meals are FREE of charge. Individuals attending the retreat are asked to be active participants. All UI students, regardless of year in school or major, are welcome and encouraged to attend. Space is limited to 50 students. The most important part of My Iowa is to HAVE FUN!
If you would like to register for the summit please fill out the registration form & waiver and return them to the OSL Office (If mailing, please send to 145 IMU, or you can physically take them to 306 Seashore Hall).
