Global Retreat: Past Activities

College life brings many diverse challenges to navigate that require open and civil dialogues.
The following activities will lead into digging deep inside of yourself to better understand who you are in helping to better understand others.

Name Plate:

Each participant receives a piece of cardstock. Fold the piece in half. They place their name in the middle of the half-sheet. In the four corners, draw or write something that defines who you are. For example, someone might draw a heart, because he/she is a thoughtful person.

Cross the line:

Participants gather on one side of room. Facilitator reads a statement if the participant agrees with the statement, they "cross the line." Facilitator continues with questions, then has group processing afterward.

Rainbow of Beliefs:

Participants are asked to stand between two rows of colors. The facilitator will provide a statement. The participants will choose the color that correlates to the statement. For example, "Are you a night person or day person? If night, pick up a red, if day pick up green."

Wilderness Dilemma:

The large group will be broken into smaller groups. The small groups will be given a situation and each person will become a person in the situation. The small group will decide who survives and who doesn't.

My New Identity:

This activity will allow you to experience a new identity. We're asking you to become a member of a group that you would not normally become a part of. The new identity will allow you to learn new things about yourself.
