IMU Sponsorship & Donation Program

The IMU is proud to provide sponsorship to many types of student, departmental, and public events. Since we receive a greater number of requests each year, a committee has been formed to formalize the request and approval process.  Our goal for the IMU is to maximize the dollars being donated for marketing efforts, ensure donations are not exceeding financial commitments, provide equal opportunity and support to groups requesting donation/sponsorship, and centralized tracking of dollars and services.

Public Relations Committee:
Nancy Abram, IMU Marketing & Design
Patricia Kruse, Guest & Event Services
Richard Geer, IMU Catering & Dining
Kelly Jo Karnes, Office of Student Life
Peggy Leichty, UI Bookstore

Policy Details
Departments will approve donations up to $500 directly.  Requests over $500 will be reviewed by the committee for approval then forwarded to David Grady for final approval.  All donations and sponsorships will be reported to Bonnie Woodruff for tracking purposes, which will also allow us to review if specific organizations are requesting major donations independently with various departments.

To be considered for sponsorship or donation each organization must submit an application to the Guest and Events Office, 135 IMU by the last Wednesday of each month to be reviewed at the next meeting.  The Public Relations Committee will meet on the first Friday of each month and provide approval answers by the second Friday of each month.

Guidelines:

  1. Donations under $500 are not required to provide a marketing opportunity.  Donations over $500 should include recognition or marketing opportunity for the IMU.
  2. In general, donations on an annual basis will not be approved.  Some exceptions will be made and looked at individually when received.
  3. Donations will be made with Student Organizations given first priority, departments second priority, and public requests third priority.
  4. In general, donations will be made in the form of product or services provided in kind.  Trades made by the individual departments will fall under marketing for business purposes and not reviewed by this committee.
  5. In order to be considered, a final budget for the event must be supplied by the requesting organization at the time of the application submission.
  6. Retroactive donations will not be honored.
  7. To begin the process please download this form, or pick up a form at OSL or the Campus Event Services office.
