IMU Sponsorship & Donation Program

The IMU is proud to provide sponsorship to many types of student, departmental, and public events. Since we receive a greater number of requests each year, a committee receives, reviews, and approves or denies each request.  The goal of the IMU Sponsorship program is to support student organizations, departments, and other charitable groups in their efforts while maximizing IMU marketing efforts.

Public Relations Committee:

Nancy Abram, IMU Marketing & Design
Patricia Kruse, Campus Event Services
Kelly Jo Karnes, Center for Student Involvement and Leadership
Bobbi Houselog, UI Catering

Policy Details

IMU departments will approve donations up to $500 directly.  Requests over $500 will be reviewed by the committee for approval.  Any request approved by the committee greater than $2000 will be forwarded to Bill Nelson for final approval.  All donations and sponsorships will be tracked centrally to ensure no one organization is receiving major donations independently from various departments with our organization.

To be considered for sponsorship or donation each organization must submit an application to the Business Office, 132 IMU by the last Wednesday of each month to be reviewed at the next meeting.  The Public Relations Committee will meet on the first Friday of each month and provide approval answers by the second Friday of each month.

Guidelines:

  1. Donations under $500 are not required to provide a marketing opportunity.  Donations over $500 should include recognition or marketing opportunity for the IMU or UI Catering.
  2. In general, donations on an annual basis will not be approved.  Some exceptions will be made and looked at individually when received.
  3. Student groups serving alcohol at their event will not be considered for sponsorship.
  4. Events that are personal in nature (example raising funds for someone with medical bills due to illness) will not be considered.
  5. Events held within the IMU will be given priority over events being held at other locations.
  6. Donations will be made with student organizations given first priority, departmental requests second priority, and public requests third priority.
  7. In general, donations will be made in the form of product or services provided in kind.  Trades made by the individual departments will fall under marketing for business purposes and not reviewed by this committee.
  8. In order to be considered, a final budget for the event must be supplied by the requesting organization at the time of the application submission.
  9. Retroactive donations will not be honored.
  10. To begin the process please download and fill out the donation request form located here.
