The nomination process for the 2026 Hawkeye Distinguished Veteran Award is open and will close Friday, July 24, 2026.

There has been a change to the criteria for this award. The nominee must be a Veteran, defined as a member of the U.S. Armed Forces who is separated, retired, or discharged. If the nominee is currently serving, they are not eligible for the Hawkeye Distinguished Veterans Award unless they are a current University of Iowa student.

If the nominee is a current University of Iowa Student, they will be considered for the Hawkeye Distinguished Veterans “Larry Lockwood” Student Award which allows for the nominee to be a current member of the U.S. Armed Forces.
