Bridging Our World is a five-day display featuring the flags of the countries represented by international students attending the university during the academic semester. The display is flown periodically during the year.
When on display, the flags are installed daily starting at 7:30 a.m. and taken down every evening starting at 4:00 p.m. by student and staff volunteers. The United States Flag Code was used to determine proper order and procedures for display of the flags.
The University of Iowa's commitment
International students make up an important part of the University of Iowa student body. When on display, the flag-lined footbridge is a symbol recognizing the University of Iowa’s international students and their significant role in the life of the university and community.
