Ragen Chastain is a speaker, writer and thought leader in the fields of Health at Every Size, weight stigma and weight inclusive health care and fitness. With over two decades of experience, she has contributed numerous pieces to U.S. News' Eat + Run blog since 2018. She is also the author of the blog DanceswithFat.org, co-author of the HAES Health Sheets weight neutral health care practice guides, editor of the Praeger Anthology "The Politics of Size" and co-founder of the Fit Fatties Facebook group.
Chastain is frequently featured as an expert in print, television, radio, and documentary film including “Fattitude,” “America the Beautiful 2,” and “A Stage for Size.” She is a multi-certified health coach and fitness professional, three-time national champion dancer, triathlete and two-time marathoner who holds the Guinness World Record for heaviest woman to complete a marathon.
Additionally, Regan will speak 4:30–5:30 p.m. IMU Academics Room, Your Health, Your Voice (An interactive workshop where we learn to advocate for ourselves in various health care settings to make sure that we get the evidence-based and supportive health care we deserve throughout our lives.). Open to UI students, faculty, & staff.
